If you self-identify as "active duty 军事" on your admissions application, your status will be verified by the Registrar's Office using the 服务member's Civil Relief Act (SCRA) website. We must be able to verify that the student is on active-duty on the date verified and in one of the following 服务 Components: Army 现役; Coast Guard 现役; Air Force 现役; Marine Corps 现役; or Navy 现役. 请注意，其他服务组件, including Reserve and National Guard are 不 eligible for the reduced tuition rate.
If your service status is 不 listed correctly on the SCRA website, it is the your responsibility to have it corrected by contacting the Personnel Command of your service branch. Copies of orders will 不 be accepted as proof of active-duty status.

To be eligible, the active duty 军事 member must apply for the in-state tuition rate using the Application for 现役/Veteran 学费 Rate. Verification of eligibility is through orders and proof of Virginia residence, which should be submitted with the application.

- The provision does 不 provide access to financial aid reserved for Virginia in-state residents and eligible 学生 continue to be categorized as out-of-state (if appropriate) for reporting purposes.

2007年秋季生效, tuition assistance authorization forms no longer automatically qualify 学生 for the in-state tuition rate. To be eligible for the in-state tuition rate, active duty 军事 members must apply for the in-state tuition rate using the 现役军人 学费 Benefit Form.
The following two elements form the basis of the in-state tuition eligibility for non-Virginia domiciled 委员会成员 armed forces enrolled in courses at bet8体育娱乐入口:
- Members of the armed forces 不 domiciled in Virginia must submit a completed 学费资助(TA)文件 that covers at least a portion of the tuition for the semester for which they are enrolling.
- In addition, the 军事 student's assigned command must have a “特别安排合约”(SAC) bet8体育娱乐入口.
A TA document must be submitted for at least a portion of the student's total tuition for 每学期 that the 军事 student is enrolled at ODU. The student is responsible for paying the portion of the tuition 不 covered by the TA, and submission of the TA document signifies that the student accepts liability for payment of the tuition 不 covered. This is an absolute requirement of Virginia law that governs domicile and tuition rates at state institutions and is a provision of the SAC with their command or facility. The University processes the TA document to pay the covered amount-- please always include a social security number (SSN) or University Identification Number (UIN) on TA forms.
In-State 学费 Benefit for 军事配偶/家属

38 U.S.C. §3679 requires institutions of higher education to charge covered individuals in-state tuition if they are pursuing a course using educational assistance under G.I. 比尔®第30章, 31, 33 or 35 while residing in the State in which the educational institution is located.

- Anyone using benefits under the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship who lives in Virginia while attending ODU (regardless of his/her formal State of residence).
- Anyone using Chapter 35 (Dependents Educational Assistance) benefits and lives in Virginia while attending ODU.
- Anyone described above while he or she remains continuously enrolled at ODU (other than during regularly scheduled breaks between courses, 学期, (或学期)在同一所学校.

配偶s and dependent children of active duty 军事 who may qualify for the 军事 Dependent 学费 Benefit are strongly encouraged to contact the Office of the 大学注册 or the appropriate base representatives for full information and application forms. 所有表格均可在 大学注册主任表格 页面.

The tuition benefit applies as long as the student is continuously enrolled at the University.
No. The 军事 Dependent 学费 Benefit, once approved, applies as long as the student is continuously enrolled at the University. The benefit does NOT transfer to a不her institution. If the student transfers, eligibility must be re-established at that institution.
To establish eligibility if the 军事 配偶/Dependent 学费 Benefit does 不 apply, the spouse must be employed full-time in Virginia, and pay Virginia income taxes on all taxable income.
If the spouse does 不 meet the qualifications as set forth in this provision, the spouse may qualify in one of the following three ways:

Institution Policy for Return of Unearned 学费资助(TA) Funds to the Government
To comply with the new Department of Defense policy, bet8体育娱乐入口 will return any unearned TA (学费 Assistance) funds to the 军事 服务 branch on a prorated basis through the 60% portion of the period for which the funds were provided.
In instances when a student stops attending due to a demonstrated 军事 service obligation, the University will work with them to identify solutions that will 不 result in student debt for the returned portion.
